Chinese dissident reportedly back from exile and secretely contacting dissidents

The Chinese dissident, Wang Bingzhang, is reported to have secretly returned from exile in the United States.

The Hong Kong-based Centre of Human Rights and Democratic Movement in China said Wang entered China from the Portuguese colony of Macau using the name Qi Xin at the end of January.

It said he had since contacted a number of dissidents in Shanghai and nearby provinces.

Another dissident living in exile, Fu Shenqi, said Wang was safe and had escaped police surveillance.

He said Wang was in China to take part in a secret meeting of dissidents.
