Free China Movement Statement on 15th Anniversary of June 4 Massacre in Beijing

At this moment fifteen years ago, the tanks of the Chinese Communist authority are rolling across the Streets in Beijing, crushing the great wall composed of the bodies of citizens and students, and approaching the Tian An Men Square by violent force. The tender bud of democracy just emerging across China was snapped by the totalitarian regime in Beijing without mercy.

Fifteen year later today, 26 participants of the 1989 Pro democracy movement gathered here again to commemorate this special moment in Chinese history.

First, let¡¯s express our deep sorrow over the death of many pioneers and martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for the freedom and democracy cause in China. It¡¯s your brave action, blood and lives that have guarded the dignity of the Chinese peoples against the dictator in Beijing and are urging us on to continue the noble freedom cause in China. You are the heroes, the true heroes, of the noble fight for freedom. Your immortal deeds have forever been embedded in the monument of the Chinese Democracy Movement and are motivating more and more to continue your unfinished fight.

During the last fifteen years, the family members and relatives of the victims of the June 4 Massacre in China have endured great amount of abnormal pain and suffering. Today, we would like to pay our special tribute to the ¡°Tian An Men Mothers¡± group represented by great mothers such as Professor Ding Zhilin. At this moment fifteen years ago, your sons, daughters, husbands, wives, fathers and mothers sacrificed their lives for the noble cause of freedom and democracy in China. They will forever live in our minds and hearts. Their spirit and dedication will forever urge us to continue to promote the freedom and democracy cause in China. We, the survivors of the June 4 Massacre, are also your sons, daughters and family members!

Further more, at this special moment, we would also like to pay our great respect to our classmates and friends who are still inside main land China and are still upholding the ideals of 1989 Pro democracy movement. We hope we would continue to work together, fight together for the democratization of main land China.

Finally, we want to express our appreciation to all the peoples around the world who have cared about and supported the Free China cause. In the mean time, we vow to ourselves that we will dedicate our whole lives to promote the freedom and democracy cause in China and we will accomplish the goals of freedom and democracy in China that so many of our martyrs have tried to achieve.

There would be a day China will be free!
